Every MSP has had that moment—the overnight job fails, the client’s “quick question” becomes a three-hour call, and the rack server in the corner starts looking very throwable. At MSP GLOBAL, you finally get permission.
The World Server Throwing Tour comes to PortAventura
On Wednesday, October 21 at 5:30 PM, the Server Throwing Arena at PortAventura hosts the 2026 World Server Throwing Tour Spanish Qualifier. It’s an official part of the MSP GLOBAL program, sanctioned by the World Server Throwing Association (WSTA), and it is exactly what it sounds like: industry professionals sending servers as far as they possibly can, in front of a cheering crowd of their peers.
How it works
This brutal-to-servers sport features Men’s and Women’s divisions, open to all ability levels. Each athlete gets two attempts, and the longer throw counts. The top three in each division win prizes plus a VIP ticket to CloudFest Global 2027, where they’ll face qualifier winners from other events for the coveted WSTC Championship Belt.
The only real entry requirement is a genuine desire to throw a server to its ultimate destruction. Slots are limited, and you’ll need your MSP GLOBAL pass before you apply.
Don’t underestimate the technique, either. Balance, breathing, and a clean release separate the podium finishers from the people whose server lands at their feet.
Warm up with Comet Backup
Want to gauge your strength before stepping into the arena? Swing by the Comet Backup booth just inside the main entrance, where it’s always going to be hammer time.
Comet Backup, a Championship Partner of the WSTC, is bringing Power Hammer to MSP GLOBAL—grab the hammer, take a swing, and walk away with a prize. Everyone who steps up gets something.
While you’re catching your breath, it’s a good chance to chat with the Comet team about keeping client data safe, whatever happens to the hardware.
Show the Server Sponsors Some Love
Comet Backup isn’t alone in supporting the supreme sport of server throwing. So don’t forget to pay a visit to Founding Partner, ynvolve, fellow Championship Partner, Tungsten Printix, and Alliance Partner, Grid.
These are the teams whose backing allows the magic to happen, and the best way to thank them is to drop by and say ‘hi’.
Step into the Server Throwing Arena… and step into legend
Whether you’re competing or looking on while sipping a beer, the Server Throwing Arena is one of the highlights of MSP GLOBAL 2026. Grab your pass, apply for a throwing slot, and start stretching now.
